What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign gradually moves teeth in a safe, effective way by using clear, plastic trays or aligners. The best part about Invisalign is the convenience of being able to remove your braces while you eat or drink. The days of getting food caught in your brackets are long gone! Patients don’t have to avoid foods like popcorn or sticky candy, because you remove the Invisalign aligners while you eat!
Also, because the aligners are removable, it makes it much easier to brush and floss your teeth than with traditional braces that use wires and brackets. Simply remove the clear plastic aligner to brush and floss like normal!
Another great thing about Invisalign is how discreet they are. Many patients say their friends and family can’t even tell they are going through orthodontic treatment, because the aligners are see-through!
What Is the Process of Invisalign?
The first step is scheduling a FREE consultation at our office to determine if you are a candidate for Invisalign! At this visit, we will discuss an estimate of how long your treatment will take. We will also review the financial investment for your Invisalign treatment. We certainly don’t want money to stand in the way of a straight smile, so we do offer many payment and financing options to make the treatment more affordable for our patients.
We will take x-rays, photos, and impressions of your teeth, which we send to Invisalign. Invisalign creates a plan for your orthodontic treatment by making 3-D models of your teeth and straightening them using their computer software.
With this software, Invisalign will create a video showing how your teeth will move during treatment. If you desire, we can show you the outcome simulation video.
After Dr. Huffaker-Allen reviews the 3-D models and makes any changes necessary, Invisalign will create your custom aligners, which are made from BPA-free plastic.
After receiving your first set of aligners, you will return for regular check-ups approximately once every six weeks. Each aligner will be worn for approximately two weeks.
How Long Does Invisalign Take?
We will be able to provide you a window for treatment during your consultation visit. Every case is different and many factors contribute to your treatment time. Once we send in your impressions, photos and x-rays, Invisalign is able to narrow the estimated treatment time down further.
