Sparkling white smiles are not easy to achieve in a world where colored beverages like coffee, tea, and soda are consumed on a daily basis. As you age, teeth often become dull or yellow. Fortunately, it is easy and safe to whiten your teeth with the variety of whitening products we offer at Red Rock Family Dentistry.
Patients can choose in-office teeth whitening, which is perfect for those needing fast results, as it provides a brighter, whiter smile in just one appointment. We also offer a take-home whitening kit and custom whitening trays perfectly molded to the shape of your teeth.
Before any whitening product is used, it is important to have appropriate x-rays taken and an exam completed to make sure your teeth are free of decay and infection.
We offer many options for whitening your teeth at Red Rock Family Dentistry. In order to determine what would work best for you and your teeth, schedule a consultation with Dr. Lauren Huffaker by calling (405) 733-8136!
The bleaching products we use in our office have a higher concentration of bleach than what can be purchased over-the-counter. Because the products are higher strength, they work more quickly. Also, bleaching trays purchased over-the-counter are not custom fitted to your teeth. Because of this, the tray may be loose and the bleach may come in contact with your gums, causing irritation.
First, we will take impressions of your teeth in order to make the custom whitening trays. We will also use a shade guide to determine what color your teeth currently are. This way, we can follow your progress as your teeth lighten in color.
We use the impressions we made of your teeth to make your bleaching trays. The trays take approximately one to two days to make at our office. The bleaching trays are clear and fit around the contours of your teeth.
Once we are finished making your whitening trays, we will give the trays to you with syringes of bleach. We will also give you instructions on how to wear the trays and use the bleach.
During an in-office whitening appointment, we will check the current shade of your teeth by comparing them with our shade guide. This gives us a starting point, so we can compare it to the shade we achieve after in-office bleaching is completed.
Next, we will put a protective covering over your gums to keep them from being exposed to the bleaching agent. Then, we will apply the bleach and allow it to lighten your teeth for a period of time. Typically we will rinse and reapply the bleaching solution two to three times. In-office whitening offers immediate results and is a great option for a special event.
Yes! In fact, the combination of in-office whitening and take home custom bleaching trays is a great solution to keep your smile white and free of stains.
